Doesn't he have a lovely tail? He's very proud of it.
I took these this morning:

Mr. Curly-Whirly
This is Jasper in his favorite spot, looking out the window. The sofa cushion is permanently imprinted with the shape of his body.

Keeping the world safe from Evil Hordes of Satanic Squirrels

Very cute... wish all the canine (perhaps not the feline - she's not a huge fan of snow) bishops could join Jasper and help rid the world of those squirrels! I'll do my part by getting on my imprinted pillow and feel that I'm in complete solidarity with Jasper, however!
As I type this, he is baying at squirrels in the front yard...
We have talked about the need to love ALL of God's creatures, but Jasper says that he cannot believe that God would have created THOSE.
(There's one really cheeky one who sits on the tree in front of the house and shakes his tail at Jasper, just to make him bark...)
Ooh, that is my lovely boy Jasper! Jane the cat person is in love with a dog. It just shows you how wide Godde's mercy is.
+Maya Pavlova too has a beige couch in front of a window which bears her imprint. More than half the time she naps, but the rest of the time she is at the window watching for squirrels and birds. She would love to catch a squirrel. Aren't they rodents? She was a good mouser in the other house. Rid the place of the mousies (showed me a couple of 'em, of course) and they never came back. Poor mousies. But it was better than having them dance around and leave mouse droppings on the kitchen counter. And nice as the exterminator was, it put an end to his visits with his little traps with peanut butter treats.
Thank you thank you thank you for the beautiful Jasper pictures. I love them all. And I hadn't seen the fancy new tail style. Well!!
Love the snow face. Shnow face is probably what I would call it if I were speaking in Master Jasper's cute presence.
Naughty squirrels!
Dear Jasper and Ms Paige, Yall guys won't believe this but we have an especially cheeky squirrel here too! It completely fails to recognize the superiority of my species or my ecclesiastical title. Incorrigible little rodent... Still, in the name of the Creator, I love it. Love chasing it out of my yard, that is.
Your fellow earth dweller,
+Rowan
That is the "approved" Portuguese Water Dog tail, Jane. When he runs around the yard, it looks like a flag. (Check out the PWD magnet I have on my car the next time I visit.)
That squirrel really *is* evil. Jasper reminds me that they are essentially rats with bushy tails.
Rowan--that reminds me of that line from "Fiddler on the Roof"---"God bless and keep the Czar...far away from here!" ;-)
That snowy face is a heart-stealer!
I had to come back and see that gorgeous boy!
Jasper is adorable. Thanks for posting these! I look forward to meeting him.
He's so handsome. (Don't tell Smokey I said that.)
We don't have many squirrels here (it's still a young subdivision with thin trees), but Smokey manages to get very indignant over cats and UPS drivers.
Ah: I was going to ask if he was a PWD.
[You've heard that the Obamas may join you and Senator Kennedy as PWD Pack Leaders? (A PWD, or a Labradoodle)]
Very cute. Good boy, Jasper! :-)
A gorgeous, gorgeous dog!
I am rendered speechless by the beauty of your Portguese Snow Dog, Jasper!!!
Gracie thinks he is kind of cute too, but she is rather shy. (hahaha!)
JCF---As I said over at Jane's place, I'm hoping they pick the Labradoodle. Porties are wonderful dogs, but they are VERY high maintenance. They need TONS of exercise and they want to be with you every minute of the day.
This is fine if you have an entire staff to take them out and run them on the White House lawn. But when you are just an average suburbanite who is gone 9 hours a day, a PWD is probably not your best choice for a dog. (I work from home and STILL have trouble giving Jasper as much exercise as he needs.)
If the Obamas get a Portie, half the country will want one too. And within a year, shelters will be full of PWDs, just like they were full of Dalmatians after the movie "101 Dalmatians" came out.
Not to mention the damage to the breed---there aren't that many of them in the U.S., which means that the Obamas aren't likely to find one in a shelter. I can only imagine the poor breeding practices that will ensue as backyard breeders get dollar signs in their eyes. Right now, a PWD puppy goes for $2K...
I love that Obama said he wanted a "mutt" like himself. A Labradoodle--which is just a very expensive, fancy mutt--would be just the ticket. ;-)
Fran--"Portuguese Snow Dog"...I love it!
As the proud staff to Molly (also a WonderDog) I am impressed with your ability to provide these wonderful pictures of a totally black fuzzy dog. Molly always comes out looking like a black blob with eyes. She too loves snow which sticks to her like cotton puffs. We were coming out of the forest to where the macho snow-mobilers unload their noisy machines and one of them said"What the Hayul is thayut" --(that's my best attempt at a Texas accent)
Fran---I meant to tell you that I'm all for an arranged marriage between Jasper and Gracie! There will be no grandchildren, unfortunately. (And Gracie should know that Jasper is a bit of a...player. He loves everybody!)
SusanKay--I'm not sure how I managed the photo bit. I have this little digital camera that I still have no idea how it works!
It is good to know that someone else besides me is on "Squirrel Patrol". I'll bet we would make a really good team.

Aw. Pupster!
Doxy dearest, congratulations on getting that darling dog to be still long enough to be photographed. You done real good by him. He's a looker.
Wonderful pictures; great dog!
What a beautiful boy. He is very much like is his mom, Juju. Her greatest goal in life if to rid the world of all those cheeky squirrels!!!
I can't tell you how thrilled I am that Jasper's grandma has posted!
