Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina--Boneheads

When I got up this morning, I had a text message from a friend who had seen yesterday's blog post about the scumsucking Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina. She wrote:

Read bcbsnc article front pg n&o 2day. U r not the only 1 pissed!

So off I went to the website of the News and Observer:

BCBS plea to customers on reform hits a nerve - Local/State - News & Observer

I loved that one wag taped the postcard to Senator Kay Hagan to a brick! Since my mail from yesterday hadn't gone out yet, I went in search of something similar.

I couldn't find a brick---but I DID find a large and very heavy dog bone...which I thought was perfectly appropriate under the circumstances.

Jasper is not too thrilled with this, as you can see in the photo below. He thinks it's a waste of a perfectly good bone.

But I'll buy him another one, I promise.

(In case you can't read the "Writing on the Bone," it says "BCBSNC--A Boneheaded Company")

I'm sure that Jasper loves you and, were he to understand the steaks -- oops stakes, involved he'd willingly donate a bone to the cause. Poodles are highly intelligent dogs, I am given to understand.

More power to you and Jasper!

And so are Portuguese Water Dogs... ;-)

Steaks? Excellent!!!

TGFD: Thank Godde For Doxy.

Tell Jasper he will get an even BIGGER one. He'll get over it.

I sent the first post off to my "list" and many others besides!

I think you better prepare for a deluge of readers....

Jasper is just too cute to not put on my blog, so I used this photo and the "bone-card" one as well.

You are "teh awesomeness" personified.

HOW ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. YOU TOTALLY ROCK, DOXY. HARD! PS - Send me your address. I'm happy to buy Jasper another bone.

Brilliant. Fran sent me over and I am glad I came.

This is hysterical but also so sad. Hope you get your friend a replacement bone pronto.

Entirely, OT:

I put up an interior of Christ Church, along with some other churches discussed. I seem to remember, and I am likely wrong, that you enjoy church architecture, as well.

Doxy, I posted your entire letter over at TPM Cafe - where it may get an even wider readership and greater exposure.

I have given you ALL the credit. Here's the link:

Title: Where's the Pony?

First line: Oh, wait, it's a Trojan Horse!

Since it's an open letter and others have posted it, and since someone on my list (who still frequents the Cafe) urged me to do so, I just went ahead and did it.

This is a heads-up, as I'm guessing your readership will increase even more now...

Peace be with you.

Wormwood's Doxy said...

TheraP--thanks so much!

Elizabeth---Jasper is very thankful for your offer. He said to tell you, however, that I've already bought him a BAG of bones to replace the one I took. He's thinking this little stunt may have worked to his advantage after all... ;-)

TheraP said...

Ok, your letter has now made it to the front page at TPM! That should likely stay up there for nearly 24 hours.... enough to do a lot of mischief!

On a good day too! With Nancy Pelosi just flagging the House Bill.

Scroll down - look on the right - for my "grace note" here:

OMG I love that dog... And I love YOU! Ten awsomeness is right. I have sent the links to Lindy in China :-) to keep her posted on the news, and if she can't click through (she'll let me know) I will cut and paste your posts and send them to her that way. XOXO

TheraP said...

Doxy, take a look at that post at TPM. Nothing I ever put up there has garnered so many rec'ds! Kudos! It's been put on facebook apparently and spread far and wide! I'm thrilled at the response!

I'm sorry if you've been deluged with trolls. But so was Jesus. Take it as a HUGE compliment!

Wormwood's Doxy said...

TheraP--I am really honored! I've had over 1,100 hits on that post since Tuesday. That's pretty amazing!

The only post I've ever done that surpassed it was my post about my friend Terri-Lynn, whose untimely death is what got me so energized about healthcare reform to begin with.

By publicizing this so beautifully, you are helping me to honor her memory. And for that, I am truly grateful.

Wormwood's Doxy said...

Oh, and I should note--I haven't had a single troll. That may be because I moderate my comments and people think I won't post negative comments--which isn't true, BTW. As long as they sign them and give me a way to contact them, I'll post anything that isn't sexist, racist, or homophobic.

But I suspect it's because BCBCNC has so totally crossed the line here. People hate insurance companies---with good reason. The only people who are willing to stand up for them these days are the people who are paid to do it. And I have to say--I really don't know how those folks sleep at night.

I've been admiring your writing and actions from Fran's blog. Good job. Admiration from afar!

TheraP said...

Doxy, I am honored to have helped you honor your friend. What a fitting, fitting tribute! Brings tears to my eyes.

And yes, I agree the insurance company crossed a line. Something tells me more and more people will stand up to them. The internet is an amazing thing!

Bless you.

TheraP said...

Doxy, that tribute to your friend is so, so beautiful! I have updated the post with that link and your words. And I guarantee it will be read. Indeed I will post it in a comment to another blog (just up there now by dikkday) and his blog is so close to the kind of thing you've written. It's just perfect. And you will garner more readers and greater honor for your friend.

I'm honored to have played a role here, especially knowing the reason your letter was so passionate.

TheraP said...

I've posted specifically on your friend, Doxy! It only seems right and just. And I've posted how "suffering" leads to caring.

I think you'll feel I've done it well.

Peace and love. And fondness for all friendships!

Here's the link:

I was going to wait for your ok on this. But I somehow feel certain you're very ok here.

TheraP--Thank you so much.

Sunday is All Soul's Day, and Terri-Lynn is much on my mind. On that day, she will be prayed for in three parishes of which I've been a part. I will be so bold as to ask those of you reading this to remember her as well.

I promised TL's sister that I would not rest until we achieved some kind of reform that would prevent someone else from suffering and dying in the way that TL did. I'm still working my way through what the House proposed yesterday, and I'm not sure what to think yet. It's not single-payer--which I honestly think is the only way we are ever going to get real universal access--but it's a start.

Thanks again for everything you've done. Isn't the Internet amazing?!

TheraP said...

I'm with you every step of the way!

The internet is amazing indeed. And so is Divine Wisdom! I am so on the verge of tears here. For all of this.

You know, I hadn't been posting at TPM for months. I had nothing left to say. You said it all! (but the loyal following I have there has also been part of Divine Providence in this matter)

Peace be with you. And with your friend. And all who love her. And with all who have been moved by this story.

I hope what I have written at Nothingness may be some comfort to you as well.....

TheraP said...

Her story is now at the top of the Cafe list. On a Friday night - into Sat morning. And it will be noticed and read. And her light will shine on through others....

Your love is making a difference!

Wormwood's Doxy said...

I left a comment for you over there, TheraP.

This has been such a blessing...

Good job, Dox!

TheraP said...

It has been a privilege, Doxy. I feel a kinship with you - on a number of levels.

TheraP said...

I hope you have a chance to listen to THIS today:

Heavenly music for your soul and your sadness. (I prayed for her this morng - and yesterday too.)

Peace be with you. And with your friend.

Hey, where are you?

Wormwood's Doxy said...

Elizabeth--thanks so much for checking in! I've been up to my eyeballs in work. No blogging. No Facebooking. No fun for the extrovert! ;-)

You must have known I was going to talk about you today. See the new blog post.

And Happy New Year!
